As part of their 30th Anniversary celebrations, the Toronto Raptors and MLSE Foundation have revitalized the Vince Carter Court in Dixon Park, unveiling it alongside the new Raptors North Legacy Courts, which include two refurbished full courts and two new half courts. This $1 million investment, supported by Canadian Tire Jumpstart, reflects the team’s commitment to empowering Toronto’s youth through basketball.

Iconic #15

During the unveiling, the Raptors announced that Vince Carter’s iconic number 15 jersey will be the first in franchise history to be raised to the rafters of Scotiabank Arena in a special ceremony on Saturday, November 2. “The Carter effect is real,” said Raptors Vice-Chairman Masai Ujiri, reflecting on Carter’s profound impact on basketball in Toronto and Canada. “It’s fitting that Vince’s jersey will hang as the first retired in Raptors history.”

Originally built in 2003 by Carter’s Embassy of Hope Foundation, the Vince Carter Court renovation marks his continued legacy in Toronto. Speaking on the honor, Carter expressed gratitude for the city, calling it a “second home,” and looked forward to sharing the jersey retirement moment with Raptors fans.

The Raptors will also pay tribute to Carter’s legendary 2000 NBA Slam Dunk Contest win in February and introduce new uniforms commemorating the anniversary, further cementing Carter’s place in franchise history.
