Hogwarts Legacy Will Launch After April 2022, Warner Bros. Suggests

Warner Bros. general manager Rachel Wakely recently suggested that Hogwarts Legacy will launch after the next Fantastic Beasts film, which is out in April 2022.

Hogwarts Legacy

First unveiled back over a year ago, Hogwarts Legacy has mostly receded entirely into the background since then. Not only has it not been shown again since its reveal, Warner Bros. or the game’s developers at Avalanche Software haven’t even said much about it, other than when they delayed the game from its 2021 launch window to 2022.

Of course, 2022 is not less than two months ago, so the question on many people’s minds is- when exactly in 2022 can we expect the game? Well, we might have to wait at least a few more months, it seems- possibly longer.

In a recent interview with Toy World magazine, when asked about what 2022 is going to look like for the Wizarding World franchise, Warner Bros. general manager Rachel Wakley said that the next Fantastic Beasts film and Hogwarts Legacy will be the two big new releases for the IP in 2022, and seemed to suggest that the latter will be out after the film, which is currently set for an April release.

“We have two major releases; a film and a game, that will be sure to generate incredible excitement amongst fans,” Wakley said. “The first is the film release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, now announced to be releasing on the 8th of April in the UK. The third instalment is sure to be a real fan favourite.

“The second major release of 2022 will be a new console game: Hogwarts Legacy. The reaction to the trailer for this has been amazing and it looks set to be a huge success. We know that gaming is such an important part of the market and one that we have to be involved in. From what we’ve seen, the launch will be well worth the wait and will deliver a unique way for fans to interact with the franchise.”

WB Games has quite a stacked lineup of games that are all currently scheduled for 2022 releases. On top of Hogwarts Legacy, there’s also Gotham Knights (which is seemingly targeting a Spring 2022 launch), while Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is also currently set for 2022. How exactly these will be spaced out or whether or not one (or possible more) ends up getting delayed remains to be seen.

Hogwarts Legacy, whenever it launches, will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
